About Us

We are Matt and Monique, parents of five beautiful girls and one dashing son: hence the name of our boat, 5 to 1.  With our older five children out of the house and on their own, we have sold everything to begin an adventure of a lifetime with our youngest daughter, Morgan and her dog Tito's.  We left our home state of California in 2022 and will cruise in our 1976 Hatteras Long Range Cruiser through Mexico, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Costa Rica and then to Florida to begin America's Great Loop, which will take us up the east coast of the United States to New York, then up the Hudson River and the Erie Canal to the Great Lakes, around to Chicago and down the rivers to the Gulf of Mexico and back to Florida.  

Our adventure hasn't started out smoothly though.  There have been many bumps and bruises along the way.  We left for our adventure in one boat, and we now have a different boat; I was sick for two months and hospitalized for a full month; and a handful of other issues that delay us from running full throttle down the coast.  Nevertheless, we steadfastly pursue our dreams and goals without deviating into monotony.  We are determined to fulfill our dreams and goals and make whatever shifts in plans required to succeed.
